Registration Open – USETDA 2019 Conference

Registration is now open for the USETDA 2019 Conference. The early-bird discount member registration rate is only $169, (available through July 26, 2019) and the hotel conference lodging rate is $199 per night (includes breakfast). Complete registration information is available online. 

USETDA 2019, the 9th annual conference on electronic theses and dissertations will be held September 25 – 27 at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. USETDA conferences are an excellent educational opportunity for ETD professionals from graduate schools, libraries, academic computing and others who work with ETDs, graduate students and scholarly communications. The 22nd International Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD 2019) will be held in Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique (UPT), Porto, Portugal, on November 6-8, 2019, hosted by UPT General Library.

The Organizing  Committee is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for ETD 2019. ETD is the key international conference to attend in order to stay abreast of developments and trends in electronic theses and dissertations initiatives around the world. Plan to attend this important conference and consider submitting a proposal to present a paper exploring one of the themes of the symposium. This is an exciting opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with the larger ETD community. It will be a great opportunity for exchanging ETD experiences with professionals from different countries, and to grasp good practices around the world.

Students who are candidates for degrees that require a thesis typically have the expectation of producing and depositing a written document. The credentialing of the candidate as well as the format, content, structure, and review of the document are strongly influenced — and often constrained — by the rules and the culture of the faculty, institution, and discipline who govern the process.

As universities and colleges have moved from print to digital, electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) present the opportunity to think beyond the limitations of traditional formats and processes in order to enable students to express their scholarship with greater creativity and impact.

This one-day symposium explores the challenges and opportunities of ETDs by bringing together faculty and staff who are directly engaged in supervising theses and dissertations and managing the processes and infrastructure for producing them.
